Lent...
Posted by bert at 10:22 AM on March 6, 2006 in ME.
so.. yeah.. maybe i was very aggressive in my "things to give up" amendments for this year... for a new years resolution, I vowed to eat healthier (that one was easy since i was a friggen slob last year), drink less Dr. Pepper and other sodas (1 12 oz. a week), and Exercise more (gym 3x a week minimum).
and then Lent of course rolls around and rears its ugly head.. so i gave up my morning coffee as well.
And of course this weekend, i get called into work. (lets not forget i worked til 9:30 on friday night too. and in total about 35 hours of OT this past week.
and now i have a test tuesday to study for as well, not including whatever i need to work tonight.
oh joyous day.
Lets just say... I'll been drinking Green and Oolong Tea like crazy for these 40 days.
See Ya Kirby!!!

My professor hands out exam at 7 p.m., 7:30 i finish, pack up my stuff, start walking out and he says.. "I wouldn't leave just yet, we have a lecture still." I tell him that i'll just read it cuz i don't want to wait 1 hour for the exam to finish up. and he informs teh class that "there will be a pop quiz afterwards as well." Yeah.. he's a dick.. and i used to wonder why Cal State Fullerton sucked so bad.

Let the Madness Begin
Posted by bert at 09:17 PM on March 15, 2006 in ME.
i'm avoiding talking about a few things.
so.. instead.. there's.. March Madness where everyone cares..
Next year will be weird.. I'll be at Carolina.. and rooting against them EVERY GAME. well.. ok.. i'll be a Tar Heel for 2 games only (Duke, @Duke) =P actually come to think of it.. I really dislike Georgia Tech and Maryland too... hrm.. we'll see how i feel. maybe i'll be 85% Tar Heel and cheer for 1.) NCSU, 2.) Wisconsin, 3.) anyone one else, 360) UNC, 361) GTech, 362) Vtech, 363) Maryland... etc.
ok
so... march madness begins..
and.. well i'm in a couple of pools that "don't involve money" at all =P yeah right.
one thing i have in common with EVERY pool.. is that I picked Duke to win it all.
yup.. that's it.. i NEVER win these pools, so... i figure... I'll pick Duke to win it all. =) it's a win-win proposition.
um.. and i couldn't pick NCSU over Texas (then again i couldn't pick NCSU over UConn last year either.)

Posted by bert at 12:54 AM on March 23, 2006 in ME.
so yeah... i think my fate is pretty much decided already. Going to B-school will "only" cost me 36k my first year.. and about 19k my 2nd year (when i get instate *insane!!* tuition.).
so yeah.. i've decided on a theme song (sure... why can't i have one?) for the next couple of months.
yeah.. numb/encore.
well.. i guess it could just be Jay-z's encore.. but i like the mixup version better.

now.. if the prostitute were white... would we be having the same demographics in this protests?
this needs to be updated:
"In June 2002, police records show, she stole the taxi of a man to whom she was giving a lap dance at a Durham strip club. The records say she led a sheriff's deputy on a winding chase at speeds of up to 70 mph, and tried to run him down as he approached the cab on foot.
The woman, a divorced mother of two, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of larceny, speeding to elude arrest, assault on a government official and driving while impaired. She was sentenced to three consecutive weekends in jail and two years' probation.
Durham attorney Woody Vann, who represented the woman during that incident, said she made a mistake four years ago and completed her punishment. The woman has not returned several messages left by The Associated Press at her home in the past several days.
"She is keeping a very low profile," said Vann, who is not representing the woman now but has had ontact with her in recent days.
Some have taken issue at what they perceive as attempts to smear a victim of a heinous crime. "
there are also other things like some timestamped photos showing her with a big smile on her face with photographic evidence of bruises and other physical marks prior to any possible rape.
Anyways..
basically.. they hired a stripper... something may have happened, and this story is way to big for waht it happens.. yet it continues to be national news..
that's ok.. they can ignore other things...
like.. there are tons of homeless people.
I need to go to Hawaii again...

LA Protestors and how it relates to the World
Posted by bert at 10:13 AM on March 31, 2006 in ME.
YAY for race relations in the US today.
i'll spare you a long winded bert 'rant' since Caroline seemed to do a pretty good job here.
but she missed one thing...
you see those kids on the highways? how does running the WRONG WAY down a highway accomplish ANY of your goals? weaving through traffic cuz you think it may be fun? are you F'ing kidding me?
seriously... i know there was the million man march.. and lord knows i agree with the concept behind it... but one does have to wonder... how many of those people who participated knew what they were marching for. Or our protestors in LA. When young kids are "protesting" do they really understand what the fuck they're protesting?
Now... if your like me.. you think that this is just plain and simple examples of semi-amusing mob mentality. i'd go saying that 65% of these kids have no idea about whatever symbolism they are representing. but now... lets take a correllary look at what else is going on in teh world.
It's no secret. Terrorist suck. but a good percentage of the current grunt force that makes up for the bottom rung of an organization like Al Quaeda is predominantly composed of youthful middle eastern men. Our media portrays solidarity between these men and the organizations they represent. But i think differently. I think they have no idea what they are "fighting" for. They are just caught up in the mob. They are our versions of the LA Mobs that are "protesting" in the streets.
Only they (the terrorists) get to use semi-automatic weapons.
