I Submit
Posted by bert at 08:41 PM on July 31, 2007.
I got pho today with a friend, which was great news in itself, since it's been about 6 months since i've last had good pho, but this is not the reason for the post.
On the Metro ride home, I got pleasure of having two british gentlemen stand behind me at the station and on the car. No wonder girls swoon as such.. I know that there is no way my accent could ever be as cool as james bond jr. and trey over there. So I submit. David Beckham will definitely take America by storm.

Much props to this guy. I wish I could have seen the TA's face when he was grading this exam...

Edit: I had to find some more. This one was my favorite by far in the 3 minutes of googleLove I had...

summer movies
Posted by bert at 07:11 PM on August 6, 2007.
This might be the best summer movie season I've ever seen. (well most entertaining anyway). And it started so slow with a crappy spiderman3. I still liked it... but it got batman cheesy....
then started picking up with Shrek the 3rd. But I love cartoons and this was now different. Fantastically funny with great artwork.
Then Knocked Up had me rolling in my seats left and right, being easily the best comedy i've seen in a theatre since Wedding Crashers.
My vegas itch was provoked by watching Ocean's 13. About on par with Oceans 11, but it was very entertaining none-the-less
Even though it came about before oceans 13, I saw Pirates after that. A lot of good fun with Kiera Knightly, pretty good formula for me. I think all 4 of these were 100+ million films.
Then we got to the heart of the summer,
Transformers kicked ass. Live Free and Die Hard was more action, Chuck and Larry has me on the floor, ratatouille... all were fun
but today... I saw Bourne Ultimatum. That movie just kicked ass... My adrenaline is still pumping... insta-favorite movie.
I had a convo with christina (who didn't see it) afterwards..
"how was it? i want to see it?"
"it kicked so much ass. you will definitely want to have jason bourne's babies."
"that good huh?"
"hrm... i might want to have jason bourne's babies.."
ok.. still got simpsons and rush hour 3 before this summer concludes...

Let the spending begin (back to school.)
Posted by bert at 09:42 PM on August 8, 2007.
America, err.... i mean Walmart, LOVES back to school season.
They push the most ludicrous amount of inane and useless "school supplies" on America's youth. Unfortunately, the only thing that changes is my income level, meaning my spending habits have increased =(
First off I had to cheaply buy some books off of Half.com. Not your textbook variety, but I've also drank the kool-aid in MBA camp and read such Thomas Friedman novels as Lexus and the Olive Tree (for this post roy...) and The World is Flat, Blink, and The Innovators Dilemma.
Now these are your usual technology marketing in this day and age books. All of which I unfortunately had... This years purchase went much further down that route with Biomimicry, Cradle to Cradle, Blue Ocean Strategy, The Strategy Paradox, and Confessor (ok.. this last one is for my sanity). All in all 5 books for $85.
Next... I have to look good in Business School right? So Amazon has this little "dress shirt group" who has a nice sale on dress shirts =) So I pick up 8 shirts for $90.
But if i get dress shirts, I'll need ties. Too bad nothing really is on sale, but i'm picking up at least 4 ties tomorrow at Tyson's, which should be another $80.
And a new pair of Johnston and Murphys from the 1/2 off place downstairs. That'll run about $50.
This doesn't even include any electronics which will be sure to add to this total next week.
So quick recap
Books 85, Shirts 90, ties 80, shoes, 50
So far today? $305. awesome... and I'll need a 5th suit. Perhaps a solid linen one this time around...

must learn to play golf....
Posted by bert at 10:14 PM on August 15, 2007.
this is kinda interesting. BSchool has a certain stigma to it. There are certain things that MBA'ers should "just be able to do."
- prolly apply 5 forces,
- talk about revenue/profits
- analyze the stock market
- play golf...
well..
i can't do the last one at all..
i was learning to pitch and putt a few years ago... but then I broke my left arm pretty horrifically (remember baby blue'ers?)
anyway... this year, I'm a VP/Chair for a few of the career clubs at Kenan-Flagler. That being said, one of the recruiters for teh career concentration I'm chairing for is hosting a recruiting event for the students. It's a golf event.. Gah...
so now I must learn how to play golf.... and buy a used set of clubs...
I guess I am getting my MBA =P

It's Saturday night... so that means....
Posted by bert at 10:56 PM on August 25, 2007.
I geeked out tonight.
Hey.. now before you tell me how I'm lame for doing it, I purposely chose to stay home and do my *sigh* fantasy football draft, instead of going to the "around the world" party at Alta. Even despite the invitation of one rather attractive first year... Instead.. I did my draft (i got steven jackson!), and then surfed the web and did homework.
I know, not terribly exciting, but I wouldn't post anything unless I had something exciting to post.
the Gem of the evening for me..
Human Tetris.
oh man.. gotta love those crazy japanese =)

Its the happiest time of the year
Posted by bert at 08:22 AM on August 31, 2007.
that's right people.. College football kicked off yesterday.
and that means pro football kicks off next week. This is where millions of male idiots waste ungodly amounts of time eating, drinking, breathing everything football.
and i'm no different.
My Wolfpack start off the season with Central Florida, and should be a fun game. And follow that up with a trip to BC, where we just might get smoked by 40 points.
My Bucs (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) are downright terrible so I guess i'll be living vicariously through my 5 (yes... five..) fantasy football teams.
