I've finally managed to "de-google" myself (sort of)

t's been a hard and thorough process, and i'm not entirely sure how exactly i've succeeded, but I have managed to finally "de-google" myself. aka, it is very hard to find much of my web-presence on google these days.
Why would i want that?
Well, i had a pretty messy break up from a long time ago, and as part of that therapy, I started blogging. A lot. Obviously I switched blog sites, and made private a bunch of posts, but that evil cache thing persists. What I realized a few years down the road is that stuff will follow you everywhere. In this day and age, if you are looking for a job, an introduction, or even a girlfriend (boyfriend), most people will do a web search for you. And I really didn't want a lot of my dirty laundry aired.
For those that know me, I have a blog or two floating around but they are not connected to my name.
I have facebook and myspace (haven't used that in years...) and twitter (which i can't get rid of because despite them saying you can't crawl for names, well you can and it's searchable and cachable, which renders me from any type of negativity on twitter.
Anyway, the point is, I realized I had to protect my personal brand (i know it's MBA 101, so hush). Try googling yourself and see how pervasive your web presence is. If there's anything embarrassing in the first 3 pages, then you need to figure out how to get it off of Google, end of story. Unless of course you don't plan on ever switching jobs, asking for a loan, and are already married. =)
